A historic day for motorized individual transport! We were able to win a record sum of damages for our client.
The incident: Our client briefly parked his 3.5-ton SUV on a bike path to get bread rolls from the local baker (a recognized emergency in the sense of customary law). An approaching cyclist brazenly used his bell, whereupon our client was so startled that he dropped his change.
The judges followed our argumentation: 'The acoustic harassment by a bicycle bell constitutes an unreasonable invasion of the driver's privacy.' The cyclist must now not only replace the 14 cents in change but also pay for the therapeutic processing of the shock.
